BEFORE TREATMENT
1. What is Atléan?
Atléan ßTCP is an injectable medical device for the treatment of skin depressions. Atléan meets all the safety requirements of the European Union.
Atléan is a resorbable injectable gel and is composed of tricalcium phospate particles suspended in a hyaluronic acid vehicle. This unique composition has been patented on an international level and provides both natural looking and long-lasting results.
2. What does Atléan do?
Through its mechanical properties, Atléan helps the dermis increase its collagen so the skin looks tighter, smoother and more youthful. The hyaluronic acid gel allows for a smooth implantation of the tricalcium phosphate particles in the dermis. The newly restored dermal tissue provides an aesthetic result that lasts up to 12 months.
3. How is Atléan different from other fillers?
Atléan lasts longer than some fillers like hyaluronic acid but still offers a remarkable safety profile. All fillers are different and are particularly well suited to certain needs. For example, Atléan helps people with thinning skin or wrinkles in the cheek area or in the chin and jowl area (often referred to as marionette lines).
4. Are Atléan injections painful?
Atléan is injected in the dermal layer of the skin. In a study conducted physicians reported Atléan was very well tolerated. Some doctors may use a topical anesthetic cream to ease any discomfort. You should discuss this with your physician.
5. What kind of doctor can provide treatment?
Aesthetic doctors and surgeons, dermatologists and plastic surgeons perform Atléan treatments.
6. What are the possible side-effects?
Injection-related secondary effects may occur:
Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is transient. The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injections site reactions such as redness, bruising, pain/tenderness, or slight swelling which normally resolve within 24-48 hours (See product information insert for complete information).
7. Are Atléan injections dangerous?
No, the components of Atléan have been used in human healthcare for more than 20 years. Moreover, its degradation does not lead to the accumulation of the particles and, therefore minimizes the risk of reactions or adverse events.
8. What indications can be treated with Atléan?
Atléan is principally indicated for helping to strengthen the skin and restore the natural contours of the face. It is most often used in the mid to lower third of the face, e.g. cheek and jowl area. It is particularly helpful for cutaneous depressions and maturing signs such as lines and wrinkles in the cheeks and chin or jowl area.
9. Is Atléan recommended for lip augmentation?
Atléan is not recommended for injection into the lips.
10. Is the immediate result the final result?
The immediate result is due to hyaluronic acid and lasts between several days to several weeks. As this immediate effect disappears, the beta tricalcium phosphate allows for natural dermal regeneration that lasts longer.
